A Message From Mr. Nowak
| TPMS Band |
Dear Twin Peaks students and parents,
After seven years as the Music Assistant at Twin Peaks, it is time for me to move on. I have accepted a
teaching position at Creative, Performing, and Media Arts Middle School in the San Diego Unified School
District. CPMA is the performing arts magnet school for San Diego Unified and is located in Clairemont
Mesa. I will be teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced orchestra, and beginning and advanced
band for grades 6-8. My last day at Twin Peaks will be on Friday.
I have worked very hard the past two years to obtain my teaching credential, and I never would have
had the enthusiasm to do so if it hadn't been for my wonderful Twin Peaks experience. From my first
days it was clear to me that Twin Peaks is a special place for people and performance. I have so many
wonderful memories of students, festivals, trips, and accomplishments that I could never list them all
here. Thanks to all of you my "job" was never "work", just a wonderful experience that I feel fortunate
to have been a part of.
I would like to thank Ms. Reiner and Ms. Antrim for all their help and support. I learned so much about
orchestra with Ms. Reiner last year. I can't thank Ms. Antrim enough for allowing us to rehearse Jazz
Band every day in RAM for the past two years. It has truly been The Best Part of My Day!
Finally, thank you Mr. Moreau! Do you realize we have worked together every day for seven years? That
is a long time to work with just one other adult in close quarters, not to mention the 20-hour
amusement park days and the various gigs we play together. From day one, Mr. Moreau always treated
me as an equal and a partner, not an employee. Not many Music Assistants get all the opportunites that
I had at Twin Peaks, and I will always be thankful for that. Thanks Mr. Moreau for: Jazz Band, letting me
make mistakes, putting up with my foul moods, putting up with the sleep deprivation during Clare's
first year of life, all the advice on student teaching, and most of all for making me laugh and keeping me
sane. Now without me to compete with, you won't have to eat all those cookies so fast! You still WILL,
but you won't HAVE TO.
